Mood Food Culinary team building challenges are truly healthy competition! Colleagues cook, share and learn about nutrition together in a high energy and fun atmosphere. Our culinary competitions require participants to employ skills required for everyday success in the workplace, including:

WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS

Do you know that kale, spinach and chard protect the brain from free radicals that dampen mood and drain energy? Are you surprised to learn that the brain is largely made of fat, so eating more (healthy) fat can prevent brain burn out and feelings of depression? Are you aware that figs are fantastic for improving memory, concentration and mood? This is a small taste of the knowledge that the Mood Food Culinary team shares during interactive workshops and seminars. Participants learn the science behind how foods affect mood so they are better equipped to make dietary choices that enhance their wellness and performance. Our engaging sessions include optional cooking demonstrations and group participation.

Students

IN-CLASS WORKSHOPS

The Mood Food Culinary Mobile Academy is a hands-on learning experience for students. An enriching supplement to the Ontario Health and Physical Education Curriculum, students gain a better understanding of how nutritious food directly impacts their mental and physical wellbeing.

Mood Food Culinary workshops empower students with the knowledge to choose and prepare healthy foods that serve their minds and bodies best during this important phase in their development. Mood Food Culinary goes beyond teaching “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Students learn about the link between food and mood, food’s powerful ability to heal, and how eating the right foods can enhance mental and physical wellness. Always fun and informative, never intimidating, this is a fantastic way to connect growing minds to practical insight that will serve them well into adulthood.

OUTREACH SEMINARS

Have you ever noticed the mental fog you feel after grabbing a bite from your local fast food chain with the kids? Many scientists and researchers have demonstrated the connection between nutrition and mood. There is truth to the saying, “You are what you eat.” What you consume affects your mood, behaviour and brain function almost immediately.

Parenthood is the most rewarding job around, but also the most demanding. Parents don’t get days off. Mental agility, the ability to handle stress, multi-task and problem solve are part of your every day. With so much on your plate, doesn’t it make sense to conscientiously fuel up so you can conquer your busy days?

Mood Food Culinary parent outreach seminars teach you how to prepare healthy foods that have a positive impact on your cognitive functioning and mental wellness. Our team covers what mood foods are, how to incorporate them into your daily eating, and your mood food toolkit. You will also get to enjoy a sampling of delicious snacks prepared using local and sustainable foods!

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY WORKSHOPS

Are you an educator thirsty for new knowledge on how to get your students excited and engaged on the topics of nutrition and health? Mood Food Culinary professional activity workshops offer a sampling of the in-class Mood Food Culinary Mobile Academy session.

Our workshops also offer valuable, practical insight on how you can restore or enhance mental wellbeing through the dietary choices you make so you can excel in the workplace. When you are feeling full of energy, calm, and cool as a cucumber, it boosts your productivity and happiness. Mood Food Culinary will show you easy strategies to implement more local, sustainable good mood foods into your daily eating so you can thrive all day long!
